Special effects are the finishing touch to the game, and if used correctly, it can be what makes a game stand out. Each game has its own special effects; examples are bullet time, computer generated imagery, motion control photography, zoom, morphing, miniature effects, etc. However, a mistake made by many, is overusing a special effect which makes the effect lose its value. Likewise, if effects are overly complicated, they can become enraging and if they are used frequently, they often become very distracting. Effects must be special and used exactly like salt and pepper does. Just the right amount for the perfect after taste!
